Artemus Burton

A little bit of background about myself. I joined the military in 1992 and have devoted my time to the government for 26 years. For over 22 years I’ve always wondered what my forte was in life. It wasn't until I had photos taken of my new car in what is called it light painting. This is Cool because the word photo in Greek means light and photography in Greek means painting with light. That was when I finally realized two things. One, I wanted to know how the photo of my car was captured! Two, I want to do this for others. After watching multiple youtube tutorials, I stumbled across the person that not only inspired me but continues to be my inspiration. Jason Lanier is the one photographer who has changed my life in the way I do photography today.

I then Started going to school to get my BA in Photography and business. I now own 2 studios on my own 3 acres of land called, “Burton Studio & Props”. Our brand of service is to connect families and people with photographers by building interesting props, backgrounds, and themes so that the client (theirs or ours) may have the opportunity to have professional photographs taken for any occasion. We do this by offering a variety of outdoor and indoor props. Not only do we cater to professional photographers, but hobbyist as well. We do this by having our 3 acres of outdoor property that offers open fields, surrounded by beautiful trees and bushes for privacy. It also includes backgrounds built on a wall for those special seasonal occasions. We also have accessories such as a full-size swinging bed from a tree. Either way, our clients have multiple options to choose from.

Currently we have two indoor locations on the three-acre property one is for general photography needs such as flash photography for business or fashion headshots, background themes for when it's hot outside, another inside location for doing boudoir photography, and we’re not saying you can’t do it outside either. Another location is currently being developed to do product photography.

The essence of photography is to have pleasure in giving the gift of memories!

Influences: Jason Lanier

Style: Landscapes incorporates the tenets of landscape imagery into all of my work. the way I light my subjects by using cinematic lighting. My passion is to understand light and how to paint with it.

How do I do what I do?

I visualize a scene and then try to locate a scene in real life that closely resembles it.

My work Process: Visualize, set up, shoot, try to get it right the first time, edit and repeat.

I believe if you don’t keep working hard and keep shooting, you will lose that technique and talent you have worked so hard to keep. Use it or lose it!

My Mentor once said, “never give up on your dreams, use the right gear that works for you, and you only have one chance to get it right” ~Jason Lanier
